Every year at D23, Disney breaks the internet with news on park updates, attraction unveiling and more. This year certainly disappoint, and we’ll give you the whole scoop (plus the cone).
Famous for transporting guests through the world all while being in Orlando, Epcot has more in store. You may have partaken in activities like “drinking around the world,” the annual Food & Wine Festival or even the Flower & Garden Festival. To make the adventures at this park even more exciting and unique, Epcot renovations will entail highlighting four new “neighborhoods” within the park. These will include the World Showcase, World Discovery, World Celebration and World Nature. Coming to World Discovery is a new space-themed restaurant called “Space 220” and a new Guardians of the Galaxy ride, “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.”
If you have Moana-crazed kids, World Nature is going to have a new attraction called “Journey of Water.” It will be a walk-through, interactive attraction inspired by Moana. Coming to the United Kingdom pavilion in the World Showcase is a new Mary Poppins attraction and Cherry Tree Lane neighborhood to feature the Banks home. This one might seem a little random, but Disney doesn’t do anything unplanned, so keep your eyes peeled!
Coming to Hollywood Studios
Besides all of the Star Wars reveals, we are finally getting a replacement for the former The Great Movie Ride. Incoming is Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and it’s expected to open sometime next year. It will take riders through a cartoon short with original story, new music and visual effects.
Cirque du Soleil’s New Show at Disney Springs
Some of the locals are still getting used to the incredible renovations of Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney), and there is still more to come. Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba is being replaced with a revolutionary show that follows the art and history of Disney’s animations. Liver performers will interact with animated characters on-stage, with brand new music and visuals. It’s set to debut April 17 and tickets are on sale now.
New Tron Ride
If you were captivated by Tron like the rest of the world, D23 also unveiled the brand-new Tron ride that will be added to the Magic Kingdom’s Tommorowland. Riders will board light cycles to race through the digital world. It’s set to open by Disney World’s 50th Anniversary in 2021!
Star Wars Hotel
By now, the whole world knows that Galaxy’s Edge will finish it’s grand opening in Orlando on August 29th. But now there is even more! The reveal of the new Star Wars hotel was an exciting announcement at D23. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is going to be an entirely new vacation experience, as it is going to completely transport guests out of this world. Upon entering, visitors go “onboard” a starship, called Halcyon.
