Interval International Flexchange is an exclusive travel opportunity just for members. From 59 days to 24 hours before check-in, you can book those last-minute trips when you just need to getaway.
What is Flexchange with Interval International?
You might have heard of Interval International's Flexchange system, but it isn't obvious to new members. Interval International offers last-minute getaways for timeshares that are getting closer to check-in dates, just around 59 days or less to check-in.
Flexchange reservations can offer a great deal because II is offering them at cheaper prices as the check-in date gets closer. This can be because the week they are offering is during low-season, or the reserved guest had to cancel their trip. If you're okay with traveling during low-season times, or you prefer to keep your vacations more spontaneous, Flexchange might have some gems.
How to Get Started
Interval International Flexchange is available to all members. When you are a timeshare owner with brands like Marriott Vacation Club or Hyatt Residence Club, you have the option to exchange your timeshare for resorts worldwide. Once you become a member of Interval International, there are a couple of ways to get started.
Deposit Your Timeshare
Members can deposit their timeshare first when they are positive they want to exchange their week. There is more flexibility with Deposit First, giving you a four-year window of using your vacation time.
Request Your Reservation
If you're not sure if you're ready to give up your home week or timeshare points, you can Request First and keep your ownership until you are ready to reserve. Members can place a request and travel from two years before the week you exchange. Points-based members should also use Request First on Interval International.
The Flexibility of Flexchange
Because of the last-minute nature of Flexchange opportunities, there are easier exchange requirements for reserving these weeks. Normally, you can exchange your timeshare ownership on II for something of comparable "value," meaning similar season, resort popularity, or size.
With Flexchange, there is the possibility of finding a timeshare that is above your normal trading power. As check-in dates get closer, the more of an upgrade you can score. You may have to stay vigilant if you're looking for a reasonable difference in trading powers, but it is possible.
There are many II owners that search for amazing travel opportunities. If you're looking to score a great deal, you have to make decisions quickly. Sometimes, that two-bedroom ocean-view reservation in Maui is only two weeks away. If you have the opportunity to make such a last-minute trip, this is a great route.
However, you should also consider the cost of other last-minute expenses. Airfare is likely to be much more expensive, especially when you're going international. Interval Travel Agency can help you find the best airfare deals, but keep in mind you may have to spend more on travel than you normally would.
As a timeshare owner and II member, Flex Deposits are a deposit that is made 60 days or less from check-in. When you do this, you have some limitations with what you can exchange for. You must make exchanges within the Flexchange period (59 days or less) and you cannot use pending requests.
If you want to make sure you can find a comparable value of your exchange and plan head, be sure to deposit your timeshare before 60 days of check-in.
