Sitting in the middle of Disney's Bay Lake is an underdeveloped, overgrown, and abandoned island that really doesn't look like much from a distance. But actually, this little island holds a ton of history, a lot of memories, and even a little Disney magic!
Every day at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, you can step back in time and experience a traditional British-style afternoon tea.
Escape to the serene setting of the Garden View Lounge and treat yourself to the tea experience daily from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Located on the first floor of the lobby of this Disney Vacation Club resort, afternoon tea is the perfect getaway for a Mother/Daughter Date, a Girl's Day Out, a relaxing respite for couples, or a personal break from the hustle and bustle of being at the Disney parks all day. To add to the ambiance, each day at 3 p.m., live music starts to drift throughout the tea room provided by a professional piano performer or the delightfully-distinguished Disney Band.
***UPDATED May 18, 2015***
A long time ago (actually, it started in 1997), in a galaxy, far, far away (well, at Hollywood Studios in Florida) thousands of Star Wars fanatics from across the world came to Disney World for the most exciting event of the year: Star Wars Weekends! (Cue the dramatic Star Wars theme music here). This year, many come dressed as their favorite characters, get pumped up to meet their personal heroes (or villains) at celebrity meet and greets, and get to hang out with other hard-core fans from all over the world. The weekend also features parades, trivia contests, and even dance parties!
Spring is here yet again. This means slightly warmer temps, but definitely nothing like the sweltering summer weather up ahead. It is certainly the perfect time to get out there and enjoy one of the great American pastimes: golf. Even though it is technically a game, a lot of people play for relaxation and the social side of it. Golfing is definitely something a lot of DVC members partake in when they aren’t visiting the parks or aren’t lounging around at their resorts. All four Disney courses, the Magnolia, the Palm, Lake Buena Vista, and Osprey Trail, definitely offer the Disney experience you are looking for, but with a little friendly competition mixed in.
When you arrive at Downtown Disney, you need to prepare yourself for the sensory overload that you are about to experience. Between the live concerts at House of Blues, the non-stop action moving all around you, and the overwhelming, intoxicating aroma of over 20 incredible restaurants, you’ll need a few minutes to stop and take it all in. Walt Disney famously said, “I don't want the public to see the world they live in while they're in the Park. I want to feel they're in another world," and at the Downtown Disney restaurants, that is exactly what you’ll get.
Make plans, start packing and get ready to treat yourself this fall to scrumptious cuisine and tasty libations at Walt Disney World! Two Disney food and wine festivals have just been added to the Disney World schedule for 2015 and you’ll want to make your reservations soon.
Disney Vacation Club members never have trouble keeping busy, but if you need a break from the action at the theme parks and resorts, why not reserve a round or two of golf? There are three outstanding championship Disney golf courses and one 36-hole walking course to choose from, all conveniently located and professionally operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management.
